In New Jersey, we are on the edge of a dry precipice and the state might declare an emergency any moment now. As the drought deepens, the calls of the land grow louder. Water, the sacred element of life, is calling to us.
We must rise with the power of generations who understood: water is life, and without it, we cease to be.
We cannot drink what is poisoned, and we cannot breathe what is burned. We call on every hand to lift in unity to conserve every drop of water, to respect every river, every stream, every sacred spring. To stop the waste, the polluting, the draining of our earth’s resources like they are endless. We are not separate from sacred streams, oceans, lakes, springs. We are water, we are part of sacred Earth.
We must let our own bodies, our own spirits, remind us that we are part of the waters, that we are one with the earth, that every raindrop, every river, every cloud is sacred and worth protecting.
Sharing conservation tips here and below.
Reduce usage by 65% and opt for a commercial car wash instead of washing your car at home.
Postpone water-intensive yard work, like reseeding your lawn, until conditions improve.
Sweep, don’t hose patios, driveways, and sidewalks. Never hose down paved surfaces!
Fix leaks around your home and irrigation system to prevent water waste.
If you’re still watering plants, use less water and consider a rain barrel or watering can.*
